Whole-home renovations and farmhouse restoration in Litchfield County

Old farmhouses, full remodels and additions across Western Connecticut, from a crew that has worked together for about four years.

Bigger projects are what we do best

Whole-home renovations are our specialty, and old farmhouses are a favorite. A job like this touches every part of the house at once: structure, layout, kitchens and baths, trim, paint and the outside of the home. It goes best when one team runs all of it.

Nutmeg has a crew of five in the field: two master carpenters and a painting and finish team. Licensed subcontractors handle all mechanical, electrical and plumbing work. Two more people run the office.

Living in your home while we work

Before anything is torn out, we cover the floors with drop cloths and put up temporary plastic walls to keep dust in the work area. We use specialized vacuums when sanding, clean as we go, and clean again when the job is done.

We can also bring in a designer during the project and help you choose paint colors, so the finished house has one cohesive look that fits its character.

How a whole-home project runs

  1. First call. We talk through your vision, budget and expectations.
  2. Site visit. We walk the house with you in detail.
  3. Proposal. You get a written proposal, and we answer every question.
  4. Schedule. Once we agree, you go on the calendar. We're usually booked two to six weeks out.
  5. The work. Clear, consistent communication the whole way, and we're available for check-ins any time of day.
